Short but sweet

Today was essentially a rest day.  We needed this after putting on more miles than we're used to!

We got up early since we went to sleep so early and our bodies were attuned to the 7 am wakeup.  We had no idea when breakfast would be served, so we wandered down at 8.  The doors to the restaurant and general bar area were locked.  Hmmm...   We went down the street to a little shop and got bananas, water, and a can of Orangina (for health!).  We had leftover chocolate cookies so figured we could cobble together breakfast if need be.   We were bummed to miss breakfast, but were even more concerned since we knew we had a hotel bill.  If we couldn't find the hotelier and had to leave - then what?    We heard more stirring around 8:30 and checked the doors again - viola!  It was time for breakfast.  The man who ran the hotel was SO nice.   I had a spectacular coffee, Bob had tea, plus a danish each (no idea of the French word for that), a beautiful croissant, and most of a basket of toasted baguette slices.  We had, I assume, homemade preserves (orange marmalade and plum) and it was another treat.  Fussing with the language issues was more than worth the effort at this location, it was truly special.

We left our little Hostellerie de la Baie in Regnesville sur Mer for the more happening town of Granville.  Along the way we saw:

These trees, which we see everywhere, that Bob thinks have mistletoe growing in clumps. Anyone know what that is?

 More scenery

 We accidentally climbed this hill with beautiful wildflowers.  I had to take a picture so it was worthwhile

 Next we crossed a causeway that apparently was, at times, submersible.  French is getting easier and easier to understand...

 Sheep crossing!  I could have made my way through sooner, but it was fun to watch.

 My camera was out of juice so I didn't take many pictures for a while.  We made our way to Granville in under 20 miles.  The Ibis Hotel was on the harbor and in a great spot.   The room is super cool.  First, is the closet.   We used the tower of shelves to manage our bike equipment.  We each have a top bag and one pannier for a day's worth of stuff. 

 The bathroom is like something from the Enterprise.  A little pod in the room and very well designed.

 We also have a private deck overlooking the harbor.  Really good people watching.   We stopped at the grocery store for wine and crackers instead of visiting the hotel bar for an aperitif.

 Tomorrow we depart for Avranches.  The weather looks pretty crummy, so we'll see what happens.  The pay off is a view of Mont St Michel, which we will visit the day after tomorrow.
