Onward to China

We headed back to the airport on Friday morning, thanks to James the taxi driver, and took a short flight to Hong Kong.  As we traveled through a few days before I noticed where the ferry ticket counter was, so we had no problem finding our way.  The plan was take the ferry from HKG to Shekou, about a 50 minute journey to the mainland China area where my sister and her family live.   The cool part was we didn't have to do customs on Hong Kong - we gave our baggage receipts to the ferry people and they loaded our luggage without our intervention.

Jeff met us at the terminal in Shenzhen, which was very handy.  It was nice to see him and have his help to navigate to their apartment with the taxi.  He gave us the neighborhood tour, we had lunch, and then we walked to the school to pick up Ella, Katie & Claire.   We stopped for Ella first at the elementary school and walked all of the way to her room, met the  teacher and the principal.  This is Jeff and Ella outside of her classroom.

Then we went to the Middle School where Claire attends and Katie works in the library.  This picture of Katie and Claire is outside of the library.  

We spent the rest of the day seeing the area, having dinner, and doing laundry/packing for an early flight the next morning.  I neglected to take any pictures of the apartment!  We slept in Claire's room, which had a comfy big bed.   The apartment was very large and nice and had a great view on the 17th floor.
