The company that provided our bikes has a rather large warehouse/shop in Konstanz with at least 100 identical bikes on racks.
I'm not sure of the brand as they were all powder coated red with only the name of the company on the downtube. Mine is the conventional diamond frame while Emily's is a step-through. About half the bikes we saw in Konstanz were step-through frames like Emily's.
The components are all Shimano Deore. The RD is a long cage with a huge mountain cassette. The cranks are triples and the shifters are triggers. Brakes are U-brakes (though plenty of bikes around here are sporting disks). In addition to front boxes with map cases and paniers, they both have front hub generators with lights. And the bikes aren't all that heavy either!
We rode the bikes around town the first day and something just didn't seem right...
There -- fixed it!
It looks like the tires all have reflective sidewalls for better night visibility.
